It’s a Saturday afternoon and I’m taking a short break from the ‘Godsfall’ project to tap out a new Journal piece.
The timing seems right since I will be starting a new day job on Monday (March 31st).
Don’t know what it is about March, but there always seems to be something big that happens for me in March the past few years. Last year it was the project at New England Aquarium in Boston. Like the aquarium job, this new opportunity is likely to last six to eight weeks. UNlike the aquarium job, THIS one isn’t in Boston. Instead, it’s in Providence. Only a fifteen minute commute as opposed to an hour and a half (and NONE of the traffic headaches). This new job is also much more creative for me. I will be carving in foam to create sculted pieces that are then coated in urethane and painted. On tap: Big M&M characters in a variety of historical garb….AND (rumor has it) a twenty-foot 'Transformer'. Really looking forward to this challenge!
Now mind you…this foam-carving job is a SECOND job for me. I still work my (non-creative) night job. So it stands to reason that this means less time to do illustration work…and less time on DA. I will, of course, do my best to be on as much as possible…because I truly do enjoy the great people I’ve met here.
As a follow up to my ‘The Blessed Rain’ journal entry, I must say that The Rain has been steady. Several really fun and rewarding projects have come along to keep my creative spirits in high gear!
So I am even more hopeful that this “stormy” trend will continue.
